County Fair Lemonade

Without the price tag

One of my fondest memories of childhood and “teenagehood” is of going to the county free fair and wandering the animal barns, peeking at bunnies, petting beautiful horses, and getting licked on the hand by baby cows! And what did I always have in my hand while doing this wandering? A huge, ice cold, freshly squeezed lemonade. It doesn’t get better than that on a hot July day. Most kids spent their money on all the rides and treats. Me? Lemonades on lemonades on lemonades.

Now that I no longer live in my hometown, in fact, I live approximately a 16 hour drive from there right now, I crave that icy cold freshness every summer. Could I just go get some at my new local county or state fair? Probably. But I don’t want to wait for that time to come around…I’m just too impatient. I’ll just make it myself & save some money!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lemon

  • 1/4 cup sugar (more/less to taste)

  • Ice

  • Water

Equipment:

  • Mason jar & lid (or any container you can shake!)

  • Lemon squeezer is very helpful. If you don’t have one, roll your lemon on the counter a bunch before you cut it open to release the juices inside of it!

Instructions:

Step 01:

Add the sugar to your jar.

Step 02:

Squeeze the juice from 1 lemon into jar. You can toss the lemon in too if you want the true county fair experience!

Step 03:

Fill jar 3/4 of the way with ice. Top with water.

Step 04:

Put the lid on and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE!

This is such a quick easy recipe, and you can multiply it infinitely to make a pitcher. Heck, I wouldn’t blame you for making a 5 gallon bucket, it’s so good!
